Hi, and welcome to my corner of the internet!
As many before me, I often found myself working on computer problems or projects and wanting to share it with the world. So, after quite a while I finally decided to get my own domain and buy some space on a web server. This page will mainly be used to present my current projects and sollutions I find for different problems, but also to present me and my thoughts to the world.
First off, my name is Knut E. Evensen, a 29 year old Norwegian male living in Ireland. Computers have been a passion since my father introduced me to it back in 1985, and since then I’ve invested a considerable amount of my life into learning whatever I can about this field.
Current experience:
- 2 years of electronics in high school
- 1 year course in multimedia design at Noroff
- Worked as a 3D designer in CDArch AS
- Worked in support at Basefarm AS
- Trained as a train engineer at NSB
- Bachelor in Information Security at HiG
- CSR for IBM Ireland
- Technical & Process Advisor for IBM Ireland
Information security in the technical sense fascinates me, and I have to admit a lot of my spare time is spent breaking down software and systems, trying to figure out how every little bit works and if there are loopholes to be found. As a result, I was involved in a variety of projects during my 3 years at HiG.
Main ones where:
- DNSSEC – Here we wrote a paper on the workings of DNSSEC and set up a working DNSSEC server in the laboratory.
- Honeynet – In this project we set up our own honeynet at school and wrote a paper on the subject.
- XML encryption – For our application security project we wrote a paper on the workings of XML encryption, and created an application that will encrypt/decrypt XML files according to the standard.
- Bachelor thesis – The last 6 months of the bachelor is dedicated to doing a major project for a customer. We decided to do a multi-part project; first create a working information security test laboratory for HiG / NISlab and afterwards perform a real software test on a customers product. The project report reached a staggering 380 pages and we were awarded an A (grade) for our work.
